We leave from Funchal or hotel and climb towards Monte. They can visit the public gardens, secular church, or ride the basket cars (tobogans).
Then we continue to the Arieiro peak, 1818 meters, the second highest on the island, with mountains of rare beauty.
Then we descend to Ribeira Frio where there is the luxurious laurel forest (a UNESCO heritage site).
We continue towards Faial and stop at the viewpoint with a platform over the sea to see a beautiful view of the sea and mountains.
Then we go to Vila de Santana (farming village) and visit the typical thatched houses. We stop for an hour or so for a light meal or lunch.(Option)
Then we go to Porto da Cruz to visit a sugar cane rum distillery (the oldest in Europe) and a short walk on the promenade by the sea where we can see the rock. Then we leave for the tip of São Lourenço and pass through the village do Caniçal (fishing village) and enjoy the beautiful rock shapes in the sea and the views to the north and south side of the island. Then we go to the city of Machico and take a tea/coffee break and a walk along the promenade where there is a sandy beach. Then we continue to Funchal or your hotel/accommodation.
